DCN S4200-10P-SI — managed 8× Gigabit + 2× SFP switch for office and surveillance
The DCN S4200-10P-SI is a compact, managed L2 switch with 8 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports and 2 SFP slots for optical modules. The 20 Gbps switching fabric and 15 Mpps forwarding capacity ensure full throughput on all ports at once. The 8,000-MAC-address table, support for 4K VLANs and management via Web GUI, CLI and SNMP make it an ideal choice for small and medium office networks, surveillance installations and access points where fibre uplinks are needed.
Performance and 2× SFP fibre uplinks
The non-blocking 20 Gbps switching fabric handles full duplex traffic on all 10 ports at once, and a packet forwarding rate of 15 Mpps eliminates bottlenecks with small-frame traffic. Two SFP slots accept 1000Base-X optical modules, so you can easily run the uplink over fibre to the network core or a neighbouring building over a distance unreachable for copper. The packet buffer and jumbo 10K frame support underpin the stable transfer of large files and video streams from IP cameras.
Proven manufacturer, support in Europe
DCN (Digital China Networks) is a recognised manufacturer of network solutions with the European branch DCN Europe, part of the Salumanus group — owner of the Fibermarkt store. The warranty is handled within the EU, and you get technical support with no language barrier or intermediaries. The device retains full compliance with the IEEE 802.3 and 802.1Q standards, so it interoperates seamlessly with other manufacturers' infrastructure.
Key features
- 8× Gigabit RJ45 + 2× SFP — eight copper ports 10/100/1000 Mbps and two fibre slots for 1000Base-X optical modules.
- 20 Gbps fabric, 15 Mpps — non-blocking performance on all ports at once.
- VLAN 802.1Q (4K) — network segmentation, traffic isolation and separating guests from the corporate infrastructure.
- Link Aggregation 802.3ad (LACP) — bundling ports for higher throughput and uplink redundancy.
- Spanning Tree (STP/RSTP/MSTP) — loop protection and fast topology reconvergence.
- 8K MAC table, 4K VLAN — headroom for network expansion without replacing hardware.
- QoS (8 queues/port) — prioritisation of VoIP, video and critical traffic.
- ACL and 802.1x security — port access control and traffic filtering.
- IGMP Snooping — multicast traffic optimisation (IPTV, surveillance).
- Web / CLI / SNMP / Telnet management — full control via browser or command line.
- Passive cooling (fanless) — silent operation, ideal for office and reception.
- Compact metal chassis — 265×44×160 mm, desk or cabinet mounting.
Applications — for installers, integrators and administrators
Office network of a SMALL or MEDIUM business: eight Gigabit ports for computers, printers and VoIP phones, with VLAN segmentation separating departments and the guest network. SFP fibre uplink to the server room or main switch.
IP surveillance installation: aggregation of streams from the recorder and cameras, jumbo frame support for high resolution and IGMP Snooping limiting multicast traffic. The SFP uplink lets you run a link to a distant building.
Operator access point / fibre uplink: two SFP slots for optical modules enable a fibre link over distances from a few hundred metres to several dozen kilometres, depending on the module used.
Access layer at an integrator: a managed switch with Cisco-style CLI, STP, LACP and QoS — to slot into the customer's existing network architecture as an affordable access node with a fibre uplink.
Management like on Cisco switches — familiar CLI
DCN's command-line interface is syntactically close to Cisco IOS. An administrator familiar with Cisco devices configures the S4200-10P-SI with no extra learning — the same VLAN, trunk/access and link aggregation commands work almost identically.
Switch# vlan 10
Switch# name OFFICE
Switch# interface ethernet 1/0/1
Switch# switchport access vlan 10 # Access port in VLAN 10
Switch# interface ethernet 1/0/9
Switch# switchport mode trunk # SFP uplink as trunk
Switch# interface ethernet 1/0/9-10
Switch# channel-group 1 mode active # LACP aggregation
Switch# show vlan
Switch# show interface status
Switch# show port-channel
Example syntax similar to Cisco IOS. You can do the same in the Web GUI without the CLI.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Does the S4200-10P-SI support PoE?
No. The S4200-10P-SI model does not power devices over the port (no PoE). If you need to power IP cameras or access points over the network cable, choose the PoE+ variant — the S4200-10P-PL-SI with a budget up to 70 W.
Which optical modules fit the SFP slots?
The SFP slots accept 1000Base-X (SX/LX/ZX) optical modules and DAC/copper 1000Base-T SFP modules. We offer compatible optical modules matched to the required distance — from a few hundred metres to several dozen kilometres.
Does the switch support VLAN and link aggregation?
Yes. It supports VLAN 802.1Q (up to 4K), Link Aggregation 802.3ad (LACP), STP/RSTP/MSTP and QoS. Configuration is possible via Web GUI or Cisco IOS-style CLI.
Does the device have a fan? How loud is it?
The switch is passively cooled — it has no fan, so it runs silently. With a power draw ≤7 W it is suitable for an office, reception or workroom with no acoustic disturbance.
Are the warranty and support provided within the EU?
Yes. DCN Europe is part of the Salumanus group — owner of Fibermarkt. You get the warranty and technical support within the EU, with no intermediaries.
Can a Cisco administrator handle the configuration?
Yes. DCN's CLI is syntactically close to Cisco IOS — the VLAN, switchport access/trunk and channel-group commands work almost identically. Alternatively, you can do the whole configuration in the intuitive Web GUI without CLI knowledge.
