DAC CABLES - Twinax

DAC cables (Passive Direct Attach Copper Cables), also known as Twinax, are copper cables terminated with an SFP+ or QSFP+ module. Twinax copper cables are an optimal choice for modern 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications over short distances.

Advantages:

You don’t have to invest in additional optical transceivers or patch cords. As passive devices, DAC cables can reduce power consumption in your server room. Their installation is fast and intuitive.

DAC cables - applications

  • 10G,40G and 100G links over short distances, e.g., data racks and server rooms inside racks or between them; linking switches and mass storage devices.
  • racks with high density of access points, routers and switches for better clarity of connection
  • in racks densely packed with cables it is important not to exceed the maxiumum band radius and to secure the cable from deformation (for the majority of 1m and 3m Twinax cables the band radius equals 23mm, for 5m Twinax cables it is 38mm)
