DCN S5750E-16F-SI-D — fibre L3 switch with 16 1G ports and 10G uplinks

The DCN S5750E-16F-SI-D is a managed layer-3 switch designed for building fibre access and aggregation networks. It offers 16 ports 1G (12× SFP and 4× Combo RJ45/SFP) and 4 SFP+ 10G ports for aggregation or links in the network core. The 112 Gbps switching fabric, 83 Mpps throughput and full IPv4/IPv6 routing (OSPF, RIP, BGP) make it a solution for operators, integrators and administrators who need a high-performance fibre switch with a true L3 layer.

10G performance for aggregation and the network core

Four SFP+ 10 Gbps ports let you set up fast uplinks to the network core or link the switch in a stacked (VSF) topology managed from a single IP address. The non-blocking 112 Gbps fabric and 83 Mpps throughput provide line-rate bandwidth on all ports at once, and a 1.5 MB packet buffer and jumbo frame support up to 10 kB minimise losses under heavy traffic. It is the foundation for aggregating many fibre points and fast server-to-backbone links.

Proven manufacturer, support in Europe

DCN (Digital China Networks) is a switch and router manufacturer with a long-standing presence in the carrier market. The European branch DCN Europe belongs to the Salumanus group — owner of the Fibermarkt store — so the warranty is handled within the EU and technical support is provided with no language barrier. The device retains full compliance with the IEEE 802.3 and 802.1Q standards, so it interoperates seamlessly with other manufacturers' equipment.

Key features

  • 16 ports 1G + 4× SFP+ 10G — 12× SFP and 4× Combo (RJ45/SFP) for fibre access and four 10 Gbps uplinks.
  • Full L3 routing — static IPv4/IPv6, RIP v1/v2/RIPng, OSPF v2/v3, BGP/BGP4+ and multicast routing (PIM).
  • 112 Gbps fabric, 83 Mpps — non-blocking line-rate bandwidth on all ports.
  • VSF stacking — combining several switches into a single logical device managed from one IP.
  • 4K VLANs — full 802.1Q segmentation, up to 1024 VLAN interfaces with IP addressing.
  • 16K MAC table — support for a large number of devices in the access segment.
  • Security — 802.1X, DHCP Snooping, IP/IPv6 Source Guard, dynamic ARP inspection, ACL lists (3K entries).
  • QoS — hardware queuing, classification and prioritisation of traffic for real-time services.
  • Jumbo frames 10 kB — efficient transfer of large packets in backbone networks.
  • Management — Web GUI, CLI via Telnet/SSH v1/v2, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, console port, OOB management port.
  • Power redundancy — AC 230 V with an optional backup 48 V DC input.
  • Low power draw — max. 22 W in a compact 19" 1U chassis.

Applications — for installers, integrators and administrators

FTTx/carrier network aggregation: collecting the traffic of many access points on the SFP ports and forwarding it over 10G uplinks to the core. An ideal intermediate node in fibre ISP networks.

Core of a small and medium corporate network: L3 inter-network routing (OSPF/BGP), VLAN segmentation and QoS in a single device — with no need to buy a separate router.

Server rooms and edge data centres: fast 10G links to servers and arrays, jumbo frames and VSF stacking for high availability.

Campus and surveillance networks: fibre links over long distances between buildings, traffic segmentation and full access control (802.1X, ACL).

Management like on Cisco switches — familiar CLI

DCN uses a command line in the Cisco IOS style. An administrator familiar with configuring Cisco switches sets up the S5750E-16F-SI-D without learning a new syntax — the same modes, the same VLAN, interface and routing commands.

Switch# configure terminal  # Configuration mode
Switch(config)# vlan 20
Switch(config-vlan)# name SERVERS
Switch(config)# interface ethernet 1/0/1
Switch(config-if)# switchport access vlan 20
Switch(config)# interface vlan 20  # L3 interface
Switch(config-if)# ip address 10.0.20.1 255.255.255.0
Switch(config)# router ospf 1  # Dynamic routing
Switch(config-router)# network 10.0.20.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
Switch(config)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.1  # Default route
Switch# show ip route  # Routing table

Example syntax similar to Cisco IOS. You can do the same in the Web GUI without the CLI.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Does the S5750E-16F-SI-D support full layer-3 routing?

Yes. It is an L3 switch supporting static IPv4/IPv6 routing and the dynamic protocols RIP, OSPF v2/v3 and BGP/BGP4+. You can configure VLAN interfaces with IP addressing, static routes and multicast routing — with no need to buy a separate router.

Which optical modules fit the SFP and SFP+ ports?

For the 1G ports you use SFP optical modules (100/1000Base-X), for the uplinks SFP+ 10G modules. The Combo ports let you choose between RJ45 and an SFP optical module. In the Fibermarkt range you will find compatible optical modules for various distances and wavelengths.

Can I stack several switches?

Yes, the device supports VSF stacking. You combine several switches into a single logical device managed from one IP address, which simplifies administration and increases network availability.

Is the configuration similar to Cisco switches?

Yes. DCN's CLI is based on Cisco IOS — the same configuration modes, VLAN, switchport and routing commands (interface vlan, ip address, router ospf, ip route). A Cisco administrator configures the device with no new syntax. A full Web GUI is also available.

How do warranty and technical support work?

The warranty is handled within the EU by the Salumanus group — DCN's European representative and owner of the Fibermarkt store. Technical support is provided with no language barrier, which significantly shortens problem-resolution time compared with global support.

How much energy does the switch use?

The maximum power draw does not exceed 22 W, despite the full 112 Gbps performance and 10G ports. The device is powered from the AC 230 V mains, with an optional backup 48 V DC input for greater reliability.
