The LO-MC-1000C2S universal gibabit media converter is equipped with two SFP slots that allow flexible conversion of fiber optics between wavelengths in single-mode, multimode, or xWDM mode. It is perfect for use in all kinds of optical digital signals, such as Ethernet signals, ATM signals, SDH signals, control signals, etc. Thanks to the hotswappable solution, the converters can be plugged in and out without powering down on the other devices. An external power supply (230VAC, 50Hz 0.28A) is included.

Universal fiber optic converter - 5 unique applications

The LO-MC-1000C2S Universal Fiber Optic Converter offers advanced conversion between multi-mode and single-mode fiber, as well as dual-fiber and single-fiber transmission. Two SFP ports allow you to put any modules in the device and customize the fiber transmission to meet your needs. The media converter is ideal for:

1. Change transmission from multimode to single-mode (and vice versa): Simply use the appropriate transceivers, such as multi-mode SFP SX and single-mode SFP LX.
2. Transmission changes from dual-fiber to single-fiber (and vice versa): Dual-fiber SFP LX and single-fiber SFP BX (BiDi/WDM) transceivers can be used.
3. CWDM to standard transmission conversion (and vice versa): Enables conversion from color to gray transmission.
4. Regenerate optical signals and extend the range of a fiber optic network up to 120km (using, for example, SFP ZX+).
5. Transmission of optical digital signals (Ethernet, ATM, SDH, control signals, video).

Examples of fiber optic media converter applications

Signal conversion - single-mode (SM) to multi-mode (MM)

The media converter allows you to convert a signal from single-mode (SM) to multi-mode (MM). All you need to do is place a multimode SFP optical module and a corresponding single-mode transceiver - such as this one - in the converter's free SFP slots: SFP SX and SFP LX. Below is a sample network connection topology that illustrates this solution.

Signal conversion - dual-fiber to single-fiber (BiDi/WDM)

The media converter allows converting the signal from dual-fiber to single-fiber (BiDi). All you need to do is to use appropriate SFP modules, such as a single-mode dual-fiber (2j) SFP module (e.g., SFP LX) and a single-mode single-fiber (1j) SFP BX (BiDi/WDM) (e.g., such as this one: SFP BiDi) in free slots. An example of an interconnection topology that illustrates this application is shown below.
