General characteristics of the OADM

Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer CWDM (OADM) is a passive optical device (requiring no power) used in WDM networks. It is used to add and drop individual CWDM channels without significantly affecting other transmitted signals. By using an OADM, individual channels can be terminated at will, while not affecting the remaining traffic transiting through the bus or ring.

CWDM OADMs are available in one-sided (East Only) and two-sided (East & West) configurations supporting two channels. Each CWDM OADM uses wavelengths that fall within the ITU-T G.694.2 CWDM grid standard from 1270 nm to 1610 nm with 20 nm interval. LightOpics CWDM OADM solutions come in ABS BoX and LGX chassis and are primarily applicable to Ethernet networks of both 1GbE оr 10GbE.

LightOptics ADD/Drop Features

  • LightOptics OADMs are based on a single optical fiber, are dual channel and one-way (allowing one duplex transmission to be terminated at an intermediate location).
  • Easy to install thanks to 1m fibers terminated with SC/APC connectors
  • Small compact size (100mmx80mm)
