QSFP28 Transceivers
Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable 28 Transceivers use 4 transmission channels supporting data rate of 25Gbit/s, which sums up to combined capacity of 100Gbit/s (that is why they are sometimes called [4x25G]).
Connectors
QSFP28 100G on the optical end can be equipped with an LC or MPO connector.
The transceiver equipped with an MPO connector transmits the signal over 8 optical fibers: 4 TX transmissions and 4 RX transmissions on 850nm or 1310nm wavelength.
The transceiver is equipped with an LC connector and transmits the signal over 2 optical fibers on 1295.56nm, 1300.05nm, 1304.58nm, 1309.14nm wavelengths. Such transceivers have an in-built MUX-DEMUX module, which helps limit the number of fibers necessary for signal transmission.
