LightOptics is a manufacturer of MUX and DEMUX devices that enable transmission of up to 18 channels over a single optical fiber, as well as Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (OADM) devices that allow you to drop or insert individual wavelengths (channels). CWDM technology makes it possible to use a single optical fiber instead of many independent fibers. Moreover, this solution simplifies the installation of additional transmissions and reduces their cost, even over short distances.
The CWDM solution offered by LightOptics enables end-to-end transmission and reception of up to 18 channels with wavelengths from 1270 nm to 1610 nm. A fiber optic cable connects the multiplexer (MUX) and demultiplexer (DEMUX) at the ends of the line of interest. Using specially selected filters, the MUX module combines the individual optical wavelength bands into a single beam transmitted to the other end of the line. The DEMUX reverses this process, so that each wavelength has an independent port on the input and output side. All channels are completely isolated from each other and do not interfere, which allows different, independent data streams to be transmitted. Transmission in CWDM systems can take place in both directions simultaneously (using different channels).
By using additional Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (OADM) modules, we can terminate one or several transmissions (wavelengths) at any point of the CWDM link, process them, and then recombine them with the main beam for further transmission.
The CWDM system is an alternative to installing additional optical fiber cables or leasing extra fibers.
This solution allows you to carry 1 GbE, 10 GbE and FC 8/16 G transmissions. CWDM MUX/DEMUX and
OADM units are passive devices, so they do not require power and are not exposed to issues caused by outages or instability of the power grid.
