The manufacturer LightOptics encodes in its optical transceiver model names key information about the module type, data rate, module category, reach and connector type. Knowing the module category allows you to determine:
- the wavelength at which the transceiver operates,
- the type of medium it is designed for,
- the transmission method, for example:
WD – BiDi, bidirectional, simplex transmission over a single optical fibre;
CWDM – duplex transmission on a selected CWDM wavelength, for example 1610 nm, - the achievable optical reach and connector type.
The graphic below shows a diagram with a detailed description of each element that makes up a LightOptics fibre-optic transceiver model name.
